Yesterday, nine year old Robyn Fellows and her mum Jane appeared in Daybreak to share their story, having been featured in the Mail on Sunday on Sunday.

Robyn was born with achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism that affects on in 20,000 babies, which results in reduced growth in the arms and legs. When she was five, her parents decided to put her through a series of four operations to lengthen her legs. The proceedure involves her legs being broken and slowly pulled apart, supported by steel frames as new bone grows and the legs heal.

Dr Christopher Bradish, who performed the first operation on Robyn, says: ‘The operation improves self-confidence. It is not an option to be taken lightly, but Robyn is an object lesson in how it can all go well.’
