Talk to the Press Latest News...

‘I got a higher fee with Talk to the Press than going direct to a newspaper’

TTTP client Michelle O’Brien appeared in the Sunday People this weekend, where she bravely waived her anonymity to tell how she achieved justice after 18 years after a popular radio host sexually abused her when she was just 14.

Michelle was one of the victims of BBC presenter Peter Rowell, who was jailed on Friday for six years for indecently assaulting several girls under the age of 16 during the 1990s. The married presenter, who was in his thirties at the time, groomed the teenager for sex after she called into his radio show with a song request.

Knowing the case had attracted a lot of publicity, Michelle contaced a national paper and was offered a deal for her story. She then got in touch with us, and we were able to secure her a higher fee.

My little boy’s death saved five lives – TTTP story in the Sun newspaper today

Today, TTTP’s inspirational client Erin Lappin appears in The Sun talking about the importance of organ donors.  Erin, 30, from Clydebank, was devastated when her three-year-old son died from sudden child death syndrome in January 2010. The only comfort she could draw from his tragic death was the knowledge that by donating his organs she could help save the lives of others.

Erin, who spoke to the Sun to tie in with a new report from the British Medical Association called for radical initiatives to boost the number of organ donors, has since learned that Stewart’s organs have helped save the lives of four children and one adult.

She says of the piece today: ‘I chose to share Stewart’s story as I wanted to raise awareness for a good cause. I didn’t want the message I was trying to get across to get lost in a cheesy story but The Sun’s piece reads really well so I am very pleased with it.’

‘We’re all happy with our story’ say TTTP clients who appeared in Sunday Mirror at weekend

Out and about with their babies, Kirsty Cox and Anna Jones are often mistaken for sisters. But in fact they are a married couple, and their babies are brother and sister. Babies Scarlett-Marie and Alfie were conceived just two weeks apart with the help of sperm donor Nick Lacey, who incredibly got both girls pregnant by DIY artificial insemination on the first attempt!

Kirsty, 22, and Anna, 27, contacted us as they wanted to share the story of their amazing modern family and this week their story appeared as a double page spread in the Sunday Mirror, where the couple told how they found a donor purely by chance after Anna’s sister Lorraine introduced them to her gay hairdresser Nick, 24, who was considering becoming a sperm donor. Kirsty says: ‘The story in the Sunday Mirror was lovely and we’re all happy with it. We’ve got two beautiful babies and sometimes we have to pinch ourselves to believe it’s really happened. We’ve been blessed with a family and it’s all thanks to Nick for making it happen. He’s given us the most amazing gift.’

TTTP helps client raise awareness of Crohn’s disease

Fiona Argo got in touch with us as she wanted to raise awareness of Crohn’s disease, a condition she has suffered with since she was a teenager. Although Fiona, now 27, first started displaying symptoms at the age of 16, unfortunately her illness was not diagnosed for another three years as doctors believed she was suffering from anorexia after she lost a lot of weight in a short space of time, which is a classic symptoms of Crohn’s.

We placed Fiona’s story in the health section of the Daily Mail, where this week she tells of her horror as doctors continued to insist she had an eating disorder. In fact, Fiona was suffering crippling stomach cramps every time she ate anything and was unable to keep her food down, regularly being sick after meals. Her mum took her to the doctor, who immediately diagnosed her with anorexia and failed to perform any tests for a medical condition.

Fiona says: ‘I’m thrilled with the article in the Daily Mail and if this story stops at least one person being branded an anorexic and actually getting treated for a serious condition then my job is done.’

About that ‘Micropig’ you sold me…..

This week Janey Bryne’s story appeared as an exclusive in The Sun after she splashed out £350 for a trendy micro pig, then watched her grow into a 17 stone ‘beast’.

When she bought the pig, Jayne was assured she wouldn’t grow any bigger than a small springer spaniel – but by 12 weeks old Meeka was already bigger than a large dog.

When Janey’s friends visited her home in Lincolnshire they would comment on Meeka’s size and ask Janey if she was sure she was a micro pig – and not a farm pig. At this point Janey still believed she was – just one with a weight problem. But three years later and Meeka weighs a staggering 17 stone.
