Sarah Savage contacted Talk to the Press after the man who raped her when she was just 17 years old was finally sentenced to eight years in jail.

Brave Sarah wanted to speak out and encourage other victims to report their rapists to the police.

She contacted Talk to the Press by filling out  a story form on our website.

Feature writer Isolde Walters telephoned Sarah within 24 hours and was shocked by her experience.

Sarah explained that evil Paul Colquhoun had befriended her when she was just 12 years old and five years later he brutally raped her.

The attack had had a terrible impact on Sarah and, too afraid to go to the police, she had finally summoned up the courage to report the rape five years later.

In July Sarah saw evil Paul put away for eight years for a string of rapes and sex attacks.

Isolde asked Sarah to send pictures of herself and contacted the courts for sentencing details and a mugshot of Paul.

She pitched the story to our magazine contacts and Pick Me Up! magazine bought the story, offering Sarah a substantial fee.

Isolde wrote the story and called Sarah to give her a full read-back before it was printed in the magazine so that Sarah was entirely happy with how her experience was portrayed.

The horrifying story appeared on the cover of Pick Me Up! ensuring that Sarah’s account reached thousands of readers, encouraging women to report rape and sexual assault.

Sarah told Talk to the Press that she had found the experience of telling her story healing. She was able to put the terrible experience behind her and was thankful to spread the message that women should report rape and sexual assault.
