Kim Chappel’s life changed forever when she was brutally raped by a stranger after a night out with friends in May 2012. But when it emerged the man who raped her had been watching violent porn for almost two weeks before launching his vile attack, Kim courageously decided to speak in public to add her voice to those calling for internet search engines to do more to prevent such footage being readily available.
In court, Kim heard how vile Pizzey had become obsessed with ‘forced and violent sexual encounters’. After becoming exciting by porn, Pizzey carefully began to plot the rape and chose the underpass as his crime scene.
Most sickeningly, warped Pizzey had told probation officers that he’d returned to the crime scene for sexual pleasure and admitted that if he hadn’t have got caught, he’d have raped again.
Kim, now 19, decided to waive her anonymity in a bid to help other victims come forward and campaign for violent porn to be banned.
On 13 September 2012, at Basildon Crown Court, Curtis Pizzey pleaded guilty to rape and was sentenced to six years in prison. Since that day, Kim says she has been back to the underpass where she was raped to rid herself of the terror. Now, Kim has a new boyfriend Connor, 23, and she’s determined to get on with her life.
