Pauline Pearce shot to fame after standing up to looters during the London rioters. We stepped in to help her manage press attention, and secured her an exclusive deal with the Sunday Mirror followed by numerous TV and radio appearances. This week, London Mayor Boris Johnson presented the Hackney Heroine with a Peace award for her Contribution to the Peace and Safety of Londoners.
Pauline says: ‘I was absolutely chuffed and very honoured. I never expected this – I was only standing up for what I believe in.’
We are still helping Pauline manage media interest in her life, and have just signed her up to take part in a film for the Olympics. She’s been thrilled with the help we’ve given her and says: ‘When I first met Talk to the Press, my phone was ringing constantly and I had scores of journalists on my doorstep. If it wasn’t for Talk to the Press I don’t know how I would have coped with all the attention.
‘Kira and Natasha took over and took all the pressure off me. I hadn’t even thought about selling my story but they secured me an exclusive deal with the Sunday Mirror and whisked me off to a hotel in the countryside so I could get some peace. TTTP were an amazing support. They answered ever query I had and made me feel relaxed at a time when I was massively out of my comfort zone. They asked if I was keen on doing television and went about securing me an appearance on This Morning and ITV London Tonight along with BBC World Service Radio and I’m set to appear in two documentaries about the riots. The team at Talk to the Press are simply fantastic and Kira is even popping along to my birthday party this weekend!’
