Talk to the Press client Figen shared her incredible story of forgiveness. Figen’s son was brutally murdered in a terror attack in Manchester, but she is the one who was handed the life sentence. Since then she has done something amazing.
Tell your story, and get paid for it
We helped Figen share her story of forgiveness with the national press. Her story is one of healing, hope and raising awareness about saving other young lives.
We placed Figen’s story in Closer Magazine, helping to raise awareness of her fight to ensure bags are checked properly in all public venues.
Ariana Grande suicide bomber
Martyn, 29, was attending the Ariana Grande concert in may last year when he became one of the 22 victims killed by suicide bomber Salman Abedi.
His mother Figen, 57, described the loss of her son as a ‘life sentence’ that has changed her life completely.
Knowing that she couldn’t be scared of visiting music venues, she attended a Katie Melua concert at another venue in manchester – only to find her bag wasn’t checked.
Bags not checked at public event
She knows that Martyn’s death would have been ‘totally avoidable’ if everyone’s bags had been searched, and so was infuriated when changes hadn’t been made, despite what happened.
Unbelievably Figan has turned tragedy into hope and is now touring schools and colleges to give anti-terrorism talks to educate about the unnecessary loss of life.
Figen is also calling on the government to introduce ‘Martyn’s Law’ – a legal requirement for big venues to perform bag searches and install metal detectors so that other mother’s don’t have to experience the pain she has.
