Do you have a cute animal story and are thinking ‘can I sell a story about my pet’? We LOVE funny, cute or downright bizarre pet stories!
We couldn’t wait to grab a copy of this week’s That’s Life magazine to read our story on The Dogfather.
It’s such a heart-warming tale, we really enjoyed working with Sara Rosser and helping her tell how her dog Moss came to her rescue at a time of need.
It all started when Sara met Nathan, her hubby-to-be, while they were working as trainers for Dogs’ Trust. They quickly became friends and before long their friendship turned to romance.
A year and a half later, Nathan proposed to Sara on the beautiful beach where they’d had their first date. One of Sara’s dogs even helped Nathan propose by carrying a sign around his neck saying: “Will you marry my dad?”
But there was one problem: who would give Sara away at her wedding? Tragically, her dad had died of cancer when she was in her early twenties.
After a lot of soul searching, Sara came up with a brilliant idea. Why shouldn’t her oldest dog Moss walk her down the aisle? Sara suggested it to fiancé Nathan, and, rather than laughing, he said he wouldn’t have it any other way. What’s more, Sara and Nathan invited all their guests to bring their poochy pals to the ceremony. When the big day finally came, Moss dutifully lead Sara down the aisle on a blue ribbon.
The couple said their vows to a chorus of barks and cheers! And afterwards, Sara and Nathan’s devoted dogs were even in the wedding photos. Sara said: “My dogs are part of the family, so it meant a lot that they could share one of the happiest days of my life with me. It certainly isn’t the wedding everyone would have chosen, but for me and Nathan it was paw-fect.”
When we heard Sara’s tale, we instantly fell in love. And we knew newspaper and magazine readers across the country would fall in love too. After all, we’re a nation of dog lovers as well as a nation of shopkeepers!
We secured Sara an exclusive deal with the Daily Star newspaper, where it appeared in February. Afterwards, we went on to bag Sara a magazine deal with one of the biggest women’s weekly magazines, That’s Life, followed by a deal with Woman magazine.
Sara was over the moon to see her story in the national papers and magazines. She said: “I loved the articles – they’re a perfect tribute to my loyal dog Moss.”
